“From Spectacle to Substance: Civicity as an Approach” is the first publication of Redesigning Design Weeks, a multi-year residency program that invites designers from the Netherlands to critically explore the sustainability challenges posed by design weeks and to rethink existing practices. The program is curated by cheFare and Nieuwe Instituut and supported by the Embassy and Consulate General of the Netherlands in Italy.

The publication features contributions from, among others, Bertram Niessen, president and scientific director of cheFare; journalist Nuria Ribas Costa; curators Peter Zuiderwijk and Karin Mientjes; and designers Pete Fung and Studio Method.
